The essence of good discipline is to have a few simple rules of good behavior that are to be implicitly obeyed. These rules apply to all students going to, during and returning from school and while on school-sponsored functions and should have as their basic goal the promotion of student self-discipline. JR Robson School recognizes this and therefore utilizes a positive behavior plan that:
- Encourages and reinforces responsible student behavior;
- Develops and promotes the growth of student self-discipline;
- Treats students in a positive and dignified manner
To facilitate student goals, JR Robson School’s Positive Behavior Plan is designed in such a manner as to provide immediate, consistent and logical consequences for irresponsible behavior. Students who experience consistent, logical and realistic consequences learn that they themselves have positive control over their lives and are, therefore able to learn to make more positive and more effective choices.
Ultimately student self-discipline cannot unfold without the assistance of parents and teachers; consequently, it becomes the responsibility of parents and school staff along with students to establish and maintain a positive school climate in which structure, support and encouragement are provided to assist students in developing a sense of self-discipline and responsibility.
